Was deeply involved in the AmericanHort/ANLA/OFA efforts and the development of key parts of the 2014 Farm Bill that passed earlier this year. Earned his Ph.D. at Rutgers University and works with legislators and regulators on pest and disease management, international and domestic plant quarantines and trade issues.

A Fungus Among Us? Joe says he is “pretty geeky” because he has published more than 30 papers on fungal taxonomy.

Off the Clock: Joe likes to get away from it all and go sea kayaking — “long trips or just practicing Eskimo rolls in a pond.”
