• Learning to grow, finding the ability to create good will
• Developing a desire to maintain culture

What led you to work in the horticulture industry? 

• My father was a farmer, so I always had a love for the outdoors.
• I was introduced to horticulture through my high school’s many agriculture programs — a good friend of mine had a family orchard that we would frequent.

What’s the best thing about your job? 

• Problem solving

Describe to a 6-year-old what you do in life?

• I drive tractors and try to keep people happy.

What are your favorite hobbies? 

• Record collecting
• Gardening

When you’re not working, what are two to three things we could find you doing? 

• Cooking
• Home improvements

• I once swam across the Mississippi River.

• Raise a successful child

What’s your favorite plant variety? 

• Espresso Kentucky coffee tree (Gymnocladus dioicus ‘Espresso’).
• Everyone should know what it is, nothing looks like it — it’s like a stick.
