Takii Acquires Global FlowersSource: Takii

Takii & Co., Ltd., a Japanese company that breeds, produces and sells vegetable and flower varieties since 1835, has acquired 100 percent share in Global Flowers. Established in 1996, Global Flowers is a company specialized in breeding, production and sales of flower seeds to the professional horticulture industry worldwide.

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. This is Takii’s second acquisition of a European flower breeding company, following its acquisition of K. Sahin, Zaden B.V. in September 2007.

According to Takii, the acquisition of Global Flowers will strengthen its breeding capacity and sales in the flower seed industry. Denichi Takii, President of Takii & Co., Ltd., says the partnership will prove to be “highly beneficial to our customers and end users.”

Villy Christiansen, managing director of Global Flowers A/S, adds, “The highly specialized products from the Global Flowers breeding will benefit from Takii’s financial and technical strength, and will strengthen Takii’s position as one of the world’s leading seed companies.”
