Valent U.S.A. Names Demouth Acting PresidentSource: Valent U.S.A.

Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced last week that Robin Demouth has been named the company’s acting president and general manager Region Americas. Demouth succeeds Trevor Thorley, who will resign from his role with Valent, effective Jan. 2, 2009.

Demouth has been with Valent since 1998 in various roles, including vice president, general counsel, secretary and treasurer. He will assume the responsibilities of acting president of Valent’s businesses until Thorley’s successor is named.

“We are experiencing strong growth and momentum at Valent, and we feel extremely confident about the direction our company is moving,” Demouth said. “Although there is never a good time to see a valued leader and friend step down, Trevor helped build an excellent, empowered team. This group will continue with our vision and commitment to our customers and partners. We are already on track to kick off a strong 2009 and meet both our short-term and long-range plans.”

In this interim role, Demouth will oversee the operations of Valent’s growing agricultural, turf/ornamental and consumer business units in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America. In recent years, the company expanded its focus with an acquisition of Green Light consumer lawn and garden business, the launch of a new Seed Protection unit and the introduction of several new fungicides, insecticides and herbicides in both the agricultural and turf markets.

Thorley, who is leaving the company for personal reasons, has been in this role since 2002. “While leaving Valent is a difficult personal decision, it is the right one for me at this time,” Thorley said. “I am proud of Valent’s strong financial performance and extremely healthy portfolio of innovative products. This, coupled with very capable and dedicated employees, means Valent is extremely well positioned for future success.”
