America in Bloom (AIB) is accepting nominations for the John R. Holmes III Community Champion Award, meant to recognize a leader who has moved the community forward. The award recipient must be from a city that has or is currently participating in the AIB program. AIB created the award in 2009 in memory of John R. Holmes III, who died unexpectedly five years ago. An AIB board member and officer since AIB’s inception, he was an advocate for city beautification and a true believer in the power of flowers and plants to change lives. This year’s award will be presented during the 2014 America in Bloom Symposium & Awards, October 2-4 in Philadelphia, Pa. Last year’s winner was Beverly Dunkle of Gallipolis, Ohio.
