A Peek Into the Future
Does your company have an intern program? If so, did you have the opportunity to work with an exceptional college student this year who you think really has a bright future in our industry?
If you worked with a student like that, please let him or her know about the GPN/Nexus Intern of the Year scholarship. Once again, we are looking for that special student who is outstanding in the classroom and in the greenhouse.
This will be the 16th year that GPN and Nexus Greenhouse Corp. have partnered to recognize an undergraduate student who is poised to have a stellar career in this industry. Our goal is to identify the industry's future leaders as they begin their careers _Ñ and maybe even be a future member of GPN's 40 Under 40!
Our 2014 GPN/Nexus Intern of the Year, Maddy Olberg, is one of those students to keep an eye on. Last year, Maddy worked as a seed technology research intern with Ball Horticultural Co.'s Premier Seed Lab in West Chicago, Illinois. During her internship, she gained real-world experience and learned about herself and what she wants to do in her professional career. She graduated from Cornell in May and is entering the graduate program at Purdue University this fall.
The 2015 GPN/Nexus Intern of the Year will receive a check for $3,000; be featured in an article and on the cover of the January 2015 issue of GPN; receive travel and hotel expenses to Cultivate'15 in Columbus, Ohio, next July as well as a full Cultivate'15 registration.
