UF Adds Disease Management Online Course

The Greenhouse Training Online program at the University of Florida will begin a disease management course for the first time on Sept. 26.

This new course is designed for growers with some experience and training in the U.S. and other countries. The course is offered in English and Spanish.

The course will teach how plants become infected, what factors contribute to plant disease development and different options available for diagnosis and control of diseases in greenhouses and nurseries. Additional information covered includes fungicide formulations, how to accurately calculate rates to use, and rules and regulations of handling fungicides.

The course runs for four weeks, from Sept. 26 to Oct. 21. It costs $200 per participant, and includes a personalized certificate of completion. Each week there are two streaming video lessons, readings and assignments (about three to four hours total commitment per week), which can be accessed at any time of day.
