UF to Offer Online Costing, Profitability Course

The University of Florida IFAS Extension will offer an online course on advanced costing and profitability.

The course is designed for experienced growers or technical managers in the United States and other countries. The course is offered in English and Spanish.

Participants will develop the skills to accurately estimate production cost and profit for their business.

Course topics include:

  • Crop enterprise budgets
  • Prepare your income statement data
  • Interpret income statement
  • Allocate overhead
  • Seasonality, space use, and shrinkage
  • Labor cost and efficiency
  • Price and profitability
  • Return on investment in technologies

The course runs for four weeks, from Oct. 30 to Dec. 1. It costs $499 per participant, and includes a personalized certificate of completion. This course is limited to 50 participants. Each week there are two streaming video lessons, readings and assignments (about 3-4 hours total commitment per week), which can be accessed at any time of day.

This course has 5 instructors from two universities and the greenhouse industry.
