CEA Conference to Meet in September

The 2018 Virginia Smart Farming Conference on Using Controlled Environment Agriculture will take place Sept. 13, 2018 at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, Virginia.
Attendees will have the opportunity to join academic and industry experts for this one-day event focused on the latest advances in protected culture, sensor technology, lighting, computer vision, automation and vertical farming.
From farms to greenhouses to warehouses, controlled environment agriculture is growing in the field of agriculture. Hear from technical experts as well as Virginia producers who have been successful in incorporating controlled environment agriculture into their business models.
Among the presenters are Neil Mattson,  director of the Cornell University Controlled Environment Agriculture group. His keynote address will cover Building a Controlled Environment Agriculture Business: Site, Structure, Crops and Growing System. In another presentation, Mattson willtalk about niche markets filled by successful vertical farms and energy modeling in vertical farms and greenhouses.
