BioWorks adds research associate to boost trials
BioWorks has appointed Glen Stevens as research and development associate, bringing more than 20 years of experience in biological control, soil health and sustainable agriculture. He will work from BioWorks’ lab and greenhouse at the University of Florida’s Sid Martin Biotech Incubator.
In his new role, Stevens will lead efficacy trials targeting insect pests and plant pathogens and will evaluate biostimulant performance. He will also manage insect and pathogen colonies, oversee inoculum production and direct greenhouse operations to support research trials.
Stevens’ background includes extensive research on managing insect and nematode pests and developing biological control strategies. His experience covers lab, greenhouse and field environments and includes collaborations with commercial growers on soil amendments for pest suppression and yield improvement.
His recent projects include evaluating biochemical nematicides, testing botanical fungicides and assessing microbial formulations for soil health and disease control.
“I’m excited to join BioWorks because of the company’s strong commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Stevens. “One of my favorite parts of working in agriculture is connecting directly with growers, understanding their goals and helping to find sustainable solutions.”
Before joining BioWorks, Stevens was lab manager at the University of Idaho. He previously held academic and research roles at Ferrum College, the Conservation Management Institute and the University of California, Davis. He earned his doctorate in biology from Virginia Tech.
BioWorks serves horticulture and specialty agriculture markets with plant health management solutions focused on reducing chemical inputs and promoting sustainable practices.
