Brabant Plant adopts dynamic LED lighting system
Brabant Plant has implemented a new LED lighting system from Signify to improve energy management and meet crop scheduling demands.
The Dutch grower installed Philips GreenPower LED toplighting force with a three-channel spectrum control, paired with the Philips GrowWise control system. This setup allows growers to adjust light spectra based on plant species, growth phases and production goals.
“We are now able to select the right spectrum for each plant species, growth phase or product segment and achieve the desired shape and plant activity,” said Marvin Verkuijlen, crop researcher at Brabant Plant.
The wireless integration of the GrowWise system with the climate computer enables more precise lighting adjustments throughout the day. This allows growers to respond to changing crop needs in real time, enhancing consistency and resource efficiency.
Verkuijlen said Signify’s reputation for product reliability and rigorous lamp testing was a key factor in the decision. He also cited the value of the company’s horticultural expertise in supporting the transition.
Brabant Plant is currently operating the lighting system at full capacity and anticipates strong performance through the winter season. The upgrade is expected to support the company’s goals for steady production and optimized plant quality.
