Bushel and Berry expands collection with tea and passion fruit plants

Bushel and Berry is expanding its line of ornamental, edible plants with the introduction of two new non-berry varieties for 2025: ‘Brew-Tea-Ful Tea’ camellia and ‘Poppin’ Passion’ passion fruit. These additions mark the first non-berry plants in the collection, which has traditionally focused on berries like blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries.

“We want to continue to offer a unique selection of easy-to-grow edible and ornamental plants,” said Kristen Pullen, woody ornamental portfolio manager at Star Roses and Plants. “Expanding the brand outside of berries allows us to reach new regions, including the deep South and West, for areas with low chill hour requirements.”

‘Brew-Tea-Ful Tea’ is a versatile plant that produces three types of tea—green, black, and blossom tea—making it a valuable addition to any garden. It thrives in warm climates and can be used as an evergreen hedge, performing best in USDA Zones 7-9.

‘Poppin’ Passion’, another warm-climate success, offers beautiful flowers that attract pollinators, along with container-friendly, easy-to-grow features. This plant performs best in USDA Zones 9-11.

With home gardeners increasingly interested in growing their own crops, these new plants offer both beauty and utility, fitting seamlessly into any garden space.
