The Floriculture Industry Research & Scholarship Trust (FIRST) scholarship deadline is quickly approaching, but it is not too late, and applicants are still encouraged to apply. The deadline for scholarship applications and all support documents is May 1, 2006. For the online scholarship application, visit www.firstinfloriculture.org.

This year, FIRST is offering a number of scholarships geared toward supporting students who have career goals in specific areas of the industry. The specific areas include production and growing, business and marketing, education and research, public gardening, and international study.

Students may apply for scholarships online and submit transcripts and letters of recommendation via E-mail. Scholarship applicants must be pursuing a degree in a horticulture-related field, possess a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in the United States or Canada. Each year the deadline for scholarship applications is May 1. If you have any questions, please contact the FIRST office at scholarship@firstinfloriculture.org.
