The Plant Company installs Philips LED lighting system
The Plant Company has enhanced its greenhouse operation with Philips GreenPower LED toplighting compact modules and production modules, paired with the Philips GrowWise control system.
The company, which produces over 200 plant varieties from tissue culture to finished material, requires precise environmental control to maintain year-round output. Nearly 200 Philips toplighting modules were installed in the main greenhouse, while the rooting chamber now features color-controllable production modules.
Steven Bryant, director of growing at The Plant Company, said the system is fully integrated with their Hoogendoorn climate computer. “The Philips toplighting compact along with Philips GrowWise control is fully integrated into our environmental control system through our Hoogendoorn climate computer, with a seamless user interface,” Bryant said. “We dial everything in and control intensity and lighting periods.”
In the rooting chamber, the production modules allow staff to adjust light recipes quickly. Increased blue light is used for compact growth and red light for stretching, depending on the developmental stage of the crop.
The new setup helps the company guide young plants through propagation and into finished production more efficiently. It also supports The Plant Company’s sustainability goals, aligning with its commitment to the Leafjoy brand by using energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce environmental impact.
The customized lighting system is expected to support consistent crop quality across all stages of production while improving operational control.
