PPA Honors Adrian BloomSource: Yoder Brothers

Adrian Bloom of Blooms of Bressingham, was named the recipient of the Perennial Plant Association’s (PPA) International Contributor Award. President Joseph Kunkel cited Bloom’s “giveaway gardens” program, in which Bloom designs a garden, which is then installed in a single day on a residential or institutional property. Volunteers and local garden centers contribute labor and materials.

Bloom initiated the program in England about 30 years ago. He has since overseen numerous installations in the United States. Another design will be executed in Columbus, Ohio, in September. The PPA will tour the mature garden when the Association celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2007.

Bloom is a Lifetime Member of the PPA. Blooms of Bressingham, the nursery founded by his late father Alan Bloom, is known worldwide for new plant introductions and innovative garden design.
