Prospiant names Burk Metzger as president

Prospiant has appointed Burk Metzger as president of the company, bringing decades of controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) experience to the role. He will report directly to Gibraltar chief executive officer Bill Bosway.

Burk Metzger

Metzger joined Prospiant in April 2021 as general manager of Prospiant Canada. Since then, he has focused on strengthening the company’s position in the produce sector and improving performance.

“Burk is an accomplished and successful leader in the controlled-environment agriculture industry with a long history as both a grower and owner-operator,” said Bosway.

Before joining Prospiant, Metzger led protected agriculture operations at Lipman Family Farms and founded Suntastic Hothouse Inc./Huron Produce, which was acquired by Lipman in 2018.

In his new role, Metzger will oversee Prospiant’s expanding footprint, including a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in Cincinnati and ongoing investments in its Kingsville, Ontario, operations. He will relocate from Detroit to Cincinnati.

Metzger holds a degree in agricultural engineering from Nuertingen-Geislingen University in Germany and brings expertise in strategic planning, project and construction management, and food systems to his position.

For greenhouse growers and horticulture professionals, Metzger’s leadership background offers insight into operational challenges and customer-focused solutions in the CEA space.
