Petunia

Bred for earliness, Success! petunias are seven days earlier than other petunias. They are uniform in both timing and habit. Success! can be used in pots, hanging baskets, mixed containers and the landscape. Sowing media should have a pH at 5.5 to 5.8; keeping the pH below 6.0 will help keep boron and iron available. Maintain EC at 0.75 to 1.0. Growing on, keep pH at 5.5 to 5.8 and raise EC to 1.5 to 2.0.Maintain temperature at 71-75° F until radicle emergence and then reduce to 68 to 71° F. Once cotyledons have expanded, lower the temperature to 64-68° F. Growing on, temperature can be lowered to 55° F for the first six weeks to initiate flower development. Night temperatures can be lowered to 50° F to encourage basal branching and compactness. Average daily temperature of 66° F will give the fastest finish crop.Feed at 100- to 200-ppm nitrogen. Under high light conditions, apply an ammonium-based feed (17-5-17). To prevent stretching under low light conditions, apply a calcium-based feed (14-4-14). Under high light and long days, an ammonium-based feed (20-10-20) is preferred.
