Donations Made To HRI’s VIP FundSource: ANLA

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) and its Endowment Fund, the research division of the American Nursery & Landscape Association (ANLA), announced that donations were recently given honoring green industry professionals through HRI’s Very Important Partners (VIP) Fund. The VIP Fund allows individuals and businesses to make donations on behalf of a person who has contributed to their personal and business success.

Three spontaneous VIP donations were made during the HRI reception at the Mid-America Horticultural Trade show (Mid-Am) this winter. Ralph Quinn of Quinn’s Kingsville Nurseries in Kingsville, Md., was honored by his son Warren Quinn, vice president for operations for ANLA. “Without his lifelong dedication to the industry and his support for me throughout my life, I would not have had the industry background and respect for the industry that helps me every day in my work at ANLA,” Warren expressed.

Bernie de Wit of Lincoln Nurseries in Grand Rapids, Mich., was honored by Amy Frankmann, executive director of the Michigan Nursery & Landscape Association and Robert Schutzki of Michigan State University. “Bernie de Wit has been contributing to the overall development of our industry for a long time,” said Schutzki. “We have worked closely with him and have witnessed his commitment and caring for the green industry on more occasions than we can remember.”

Tim Wood of Spring Meadow Nursery in Grand Haven, Mich., announced Spring Meadow’s donation in honor of Chris Warner of Warner Roses in the United Kingdom. Warner was Spring Meadow’s special guest at Mid-Am as well as its guest breeder for the Oso Easy Rose series.
