The Huntersville, N.C.-based grower’s use of biomass burners for heating greenhouses and energy conservation efforts are being spotlighted as part of Chevrolet’s Carbon Stories series.
The Chevrolet Carbon Stories series is part of the automaker’s Carbon Reduction Initiative. In the video, Metrolina’s co-CEO Abe Van Wingerden and systems and boiler engineer Jeff Woolsey talk about the benefits of using biomass burners instead of fossil fuel in METROLINA’S GREENHOUSES. Metrolina uses “mostly wood that would otherwise be destined for the landfill, or low value wood from forest thinnings.”
