On Jan. 12., DNA Green Group announced it is incorporating Terra Nigra, a company specializing in breeding and propagation of gerberas and roses.

Terra Nigra, previously owned by the Boerlage family, will join the DNA Green Group. “Now that we are a part of the DNA Green Group, we will have access to the newest techniques in breeding,” says Peter Boerlage, managing director of Terra Nigra. “Our customers will benefit from faster development of a complete range of strong varieties for our cut rose and cut gerbera assortments.”

“In their long history, Terra Nigra has built a good assortment, an outstanding sales network and a professional team of employees. With this move, DNA Green Group takes the next step in realizing her growth strategy,” said Biense Visser, CEO of DNA Green Group. “ This strategy is aimed at creating synergies in technology, production and sales. We realize these synergies by consolidating various breeding programs and cross selling of our products to our existing customers.”

DNA Green Group is a leader in advanced scientific breeding and selection techniques of flowers and plants. By combining these techniques with the rose and gerbera genetics from Terra Nigra, new, improved varieties of these products will be available sooner. Joining the sales forces will result in a more efficient and knowledgeable sales network for the customers.

DNA Green Group is one of the leading breeding companies in breeding and development of cut flowers, potted plants, bedding plants and perennials. DNA Green Group was the result of the merger between Dümmen Group and Agribio Group in 2013.

Terra Nigra’s headquarters is in Kudelstaart, the Netherlands. The company has specialized in breeding, marketing and propagation of gerberas and roses for more than 40 years. Terra Nigra’s products are sold worldwide. The company has subsidiaries in USA, Ecuador and Kenya.
