Are You Looking for Growing Tips? By Tim Hodson

Paul Fisher at the University of Florida IFAS Extension has released a series of online videos called “Five Tips for Horticulture” featured on the university’s Greenhouse Training Online channel (https://tinyurl.com/ufgto).

The series highlights technical topics from university and industry experts. Managing pesticides and water quality, using hydroponic substrates and controlling weeds in the greenhouse are a few of the topics covered in the series.

Fisher recently released a new video (https://youtu.be/4QfAh_BttIo ) with Paul Karlovich of Sun Gro Horticulture on conducting trials for growing media.

In the video, Karlovich explains how to successfully run onsite trials to evaluate growing media options. He discusses how you can objectively decide what media works under your conditions.

Upcoming videos are planned on topics such as phosphorus management and container substrate quality. The channel is sponsored by the Floriculture Research Alliance (https://floriculturealliance.org/).

‘Lowemance’ Blooms at Lowe’s on Valentine’s Day

After a year of date nights and adventures being replaced by takeout on the couch, Lowe’s put a new twist on romance, offering 50 lucky couples a one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day experience —  a “Night of Lowemance” — an intimate splash-painting date night at Lowe’s. As part of the exclusive experience, couples were hosted in a dedicated area of the store inspired by creativity and romance. The evening began with a toast to celebrate their relationship, followed by hors d’oeuvres and the invitation to choose from a curated “menu” of HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams paint colors. Attendees then moved to a paint zone, complete with splash-painting supplies where the couples could celebrate their love and create their own painting.
