Dramm begins construction of solar field in Wisconsin

Dramm Corp. has begun construction on a 10,000-square-foot solar field at its Fish Fertilizer Facility in Algoma, Wisconsin. The $120,000 project is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fertilizer Production Expansion Program (FPEP).

The solar field will consist of 220 high-efficiency solar panels and is expected to offset up to 74% of the facility’s energy consumption. The installation is projected to save the company significantly on energy costs while reducing its carbon footprint. The project is expected to be completed in January 2025.

“Dramm Corporation is grateful for the FPEP grant award that allows us to invest in solar power to offset the energy needs at the Algoma fish plant,” said Fritz Dramm, fertilizer production and compliance manager.

The new system will prevent 2,384 tons of CO2 emissions over the next 20 years and eliminate the environmental impact of 5.4 million miles driven by cars. In addition, it will have the environmental benefit of planting more than 35,700 trees.

Dramm manufactures DRAMMATIC Liquid Fish Fertilizer, which is used in organic and conventional farming and home gardening.
