HRI announces 2025 scholarships for horticulture students

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is now accepting applications for its 2025 scholarship program, offering more than $50,000 in funding to students pursuing careers in horticulture. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000, with additional Sidney B. Meadows Scholarships providing twelve $2,000 awards.

The institute, established in 1962, has granted over $9.5 million in scholarships and funding for research projects addressing key challenges in horticulture. This year’s funding is made possible through endowment contributions from individuals, corporations, and associations committed to advancing the green industry.

“These scholarships do more than just fund education; they are a launchpad for careers in horticulture, helping students to cultivate their passions into meaningful contributions to the industry,” said Jennifer Gray, administrator at HRI.

The application portal is now open, with a submission deadline of May 31, 2025. Students can access the application and additional details on HRI’s scholarship page.

The HRI, a division of AmericanHort, has committed over $19 million to its endowment to support research, scholarships, and leadership development, ensuring the ongoing growth and innovation of the horticultural industry.
