The herbicide, which contains prodiamine and isoxaben, features ICL’s R-50 Optimizer, allowing for 50% less active ingredient while maintaining efficacy. “ICL’s Gemini Granular herbicide with R-50 Optimizer allows for 50% less active ingredient without compromising efficacy,” said Robbie Abillama, ICL Growing Solutions western region sales manager.

With flexible application rates for different levels of weed pressure, growers may have the option to apply an additional treatment per season while staying within regulatory limits. The product provides residual weed control for up to 60-90 days at low rates and up to four months at higher rates.

The herbicide is labeled for use on more than 500 ornamental plants and controls over 120 grass and broadleaf weeds. According to ICL, Gemini Granular offers growers a broad-spectrum solution with minimal phytotoxicity risk.

ICL representatives noted that the company has been working on securing California approval for years, and the registration allows distributors to offer the product to growers in the state.
