NC Arboretum’s IPM Symposium Set for September

The North Carolina Arboretum, a 434-acre public garden and affiliate of the University of North Carolina, in conjunction with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, will host its seventh annual Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Symposium on Sept. 28, 2017 in Asheville.

Participants who attend the full-day conference will have the opportunity to receive pesticide credits and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee (pending).

Juang-Horng “JC” Chong of Clemson University will present this year’s keynote address, “Forward to the Next Chapter in Greenhouse, Nursery and Landscape IPM.”

Other featured speakers include Stanton Gill from the University of Maryland, Suzanne Wainwright-Evans with Buglady Consulting, and Bill Klingeman and Mark Windham from the University of Tennessee.

The symposium will include three concurrent breakout sessions, allowing attendees to focus on topics most relevant to their horticultural background and expertise. At the conclusion of the tracks, attendees are invited to participate in hands-on demonstrations outside in the Arboretum’s gardens and in the classroom.
