Bemis Farms Nursery wins Alive With Flowers award

Suntory Flowers recently announced that Ed and Tina Bemis of Bemis Farms Nursery are the winners of the Alive With Flowers — Sunbeam Social Media Award, in partnership with America in Bloom (AIB).

Awards were announced last week during AIB’s symposium in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Nine entries were received for the Sunbeam Social Media Award from towns active in AIB, as well as not active in the community revitalization program.

In addition to planting and maintaining gorgeous hanging baskets and large planters for the Worcester Downtown Business District, Tina has created a Facebook group, Municipal Hanging Baskets and Pots.

Bemis Farms Nursery grows and maintains 126 large hanging baskets and 53 enormous planters. They started locally and then landed the bid for Worcester, a much larger city. They bought a truck and outfitted it with a water tank and hired a night crew to service the plantings.

“This is our third year doing it and this year we featured mandevilla in our pots,” Tina said. “Everybody loves them!”

In addition to receiving the recognition from AIB, the prize is Sun Parasol plants.
