Submit new varieties for the 2025 Farwest Show

The 2025 Farwest Show is now accepting submissions for its New Varieties Showcase, an industry event highlighting new plant introductions. The trade show will take place Aug. 20-22 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.

Farwest Show 2025 logo wordsAllan Niemi, director of events for the Oregon Association of Nurseries, emphasized the importance of new plant varieties in the industry. “New plant introductions bring new life to the green industry,” Niemi said.

The showcase, sponsored by Hip Labels, allows breeders and growers to present their latest varieties to more than 4,000 industry professionals, including retailers, brokers and garden writers. Submissions will be judged by a panel of experts and event attendees, with the top selections eligible for the Judge’s Award or People’s Choice Award.

Two entry tiers are available. Tier 1, with a $250 fee, includes online and on-site display, plant tag labeling and added exposure in industry publications. Tier 2, costing $90, includes online and on-site display with labeling. The submission deadlines are April 11 for Tier 1 and June 13 for Tier 2.

To qualify, plants must demonstrate improved traits such as increased hardiness, extended bloom time or enhanced disease resistance. Entries must be new introductions for 2025 or 2026 and available for purchase in 2026 from at least one exhibitor at the show.

The online form to submit entries is available at farwestshow.com/nvssubmit. For questions, contact New Varieties Showcase coordinator Jamie Moore at jmoore@oan.org or 503-582-2010.
