Accomplishments

What professional and personal accomplishments are you most proud of?

  • Re-branded our Mulberry Miniatures division by revamping the catalog, creating new booth designs for trade shows and designing new informational brochures.
  • Instrumental in the acquisition of our Mulberry Miniature plant collection and was able to build relationships with different broker companies to get our business venture off the ground.
  • I started working in the industry as a part-time water girl at 15. I am now a business partner who manages our shipping department, greenhouse department and creates our displays and marketing.

What led you to work in the horticulture industry?

  • My love for the outdoors led me to work at a local garden center when I was 15. I instantly enjoyed working in the greenhouse, planting custom planters and choosing new varieties.

What’s the best thing about your job?

  • I get to do what I love, every day.

Describe to a 6-year-old what you do in life?

  • I work in a place where you can play in the dirt all day and never get yelled at.
  • I plant and water flowers that will make people smile when they take them home.
  • Also, I get to talk to people from all over the country and send plants to them for their customers to enjoy.

Extracurricular

What are your three favorite hobbies?

  • Reading books
  • Going on adventures
  • Riding my motorcycle

When you’re not working, what are three things we could find you doing?

  • Hiking in beautiful and unique places
  • Working with our local enhancement committee making our village beautiful
  • Hanging out with my dog Maggie and husband Alex, while reading a good book

Fun Facts

Do you have any unusual talents, or can you tell us something interesting about yourself that other people may be surprised to find out?

  • I love to grow all different varieties of vegetables in my garden at home. The funny part is I don’t like vegetables. Everything I grow, I give away. I ask for feedback on the taste and that is how I help our customers choose their varieties.

One thing you can’t live without?

  • One thing I cannot live without is my hiking backpack … without it there would be no adventures.

What are you (un)secretly good at?

  • Described as sarcasm mixed with a ray of sunshine, I am good at keeping our staff and customers in a happy, positive and upbeat mood.

What are your top three bucket list items?

  • To see the northern lights in Alaska or Iceland
  • Hike the Appalachian Trail
  • Visit all the U.S. national parks

What’s your favorite plant variety and why?

  • Lantana because it’s tough, durable, easily maintained and loves to be baked in the hot sun.
  • Its unique colors can be bold to stand out or pastel to blend in, and it thrives almost everywhere.

You’re buying a vacation package to anywhere in the world without a budget, where are you going?

  • My vacation package would be to New Zealand. Described as a land of great contrast and diversity, it’s every nature lover’s dream.
