Sakata forms global flower division for growth

Sakata Seed Corp. announced it will launch a Global Flower Business Division on June 1 to strengthen its flower operations and better respond to shifting global market conditions.

The new division will merge the product development functions of Sakata’s Overseas and Japanese Domestic Sales & Marketing divisions. According to the company, this move aims to boost product development and technical support capabilities on a global scale.

Sakata cited climate change, shifting production zones, logistics reforms and evolving consumer lifestyles as key drivers for restructuring within the global flower seed industry. These pressures are contributing to increased corporate consolidation and reorganization across the sector.

The flower seed company, known for both edible and ornamental varieties, sees this restructuring as a strategic opportunity to remain competitive and meet new demands in the horticulture market.

The new structure will be rolled out gradually, with anticipated long-term impact on product availability and innovation tailored to evolving global trends.
