Oasis Grower Solutions launches RhizoPlug propagation kit for small-scale use
Oasis Grower Solutions, a division of Smithers-Oasis, has introduced a retail-focused propagation kit designed for home growers using vegetative cuttings.
The OASIS RhizoPlug Sheet Propagation Kit brings the company’s engineered substrate technology to small-scale users, including hobbyists and home gardeners. The kit is intended for propagation of floriculture crops, culinary herbs, industrial hemp and similar plants.
The substrate is based on RhizoPlug sheet media, an engineered growing medium developed for commercial propagation. According to the company, the material supports damage-free cutting insertion, faster rehydration and uniform rooting.
“Our engineered sheet substrates have had a very dedicated following among small-scale hobby growers for many years,” said Vijay Rapaka, director of global grower operations and research for Smithers-Oasis.
The company said the product also creates a new retail opportunity for independent garden centers as interest in home propagation continues to grow following the pandemic.
Each kit includes two 1020 trays, one with drainage holes and one solid, one 50-count or 104-count RhizoPlug sheet and a printed instruction guide. Refill packs containing two substrate sheets are also available.
The kits and refills can be purchased through the Oasis Grower Solutions online store and through distributors and retailers. Bulk pallet or case orders and refills are available through Oasis Grower Solutions territory sales managers.
Oasis Grower Solutions said the new kit extends its commercial propagation tools to a consumer audience while maintaining the performance standards used by professional plant propagators.
