Sormac to demonstrate vegetable processing technology
Sormac will showcase its vegetable processing equipment at Fruit Logistica 2026, Feb. 4-6, in Berlin, Germany, where the company will demonstrate machinery and automation systems for fresh-cut and leafy vegetable operations.
The company will exhibit at Hall 1.1, Stand C-40, and present processing solutions ranging from standalone machines to fully integrated lines. For greenhouse and horticulture growers supplying fresh-cut markets, the focus is on hygienic machine design, automation and efficiency to support food safety and consistent product quality.
Sormac said hygienic design is central to its equipment development, with an emphasis on cleanability and disinfection to reduce microbial risk. The company has conducted microbiological research in-house and with vegetable processors, using results to refine machine designs, including the USM-H100 onion peeler that will be on display.
The company is also researching nonchemical methods to remove aphids from lettuce by adapting washing technology. The work is being conducted at Sormac’s laboratory in Venlo in collaboration with Vertify and Dutch lettuce processors, addressing challenges created by the loss of certain crop protection products.
Live demonstrations will include peeling, cutting, coring and drying equipment, along with vision-based automation systems for monitoring and process optimization. Sormac will also highlight post-harvest solutions for leafy vegetables produced in controlled environment agriculture systems.
“Continuity in production, smart and easy-to-operate machines, and a constant focus on quality and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do,” said Roy Lemmen, commercial director at Sormac.
